Notice to Traders

Ad Mag would like to point out that it is an offence for which you may be prosecuted not to advertise the fact that you are a trader. The "Business Advertisement Disclosure Order" (1977) requires all people who wish to sell goods in the course of business to make that fact clear. It is the responsibility of the advertiser to comply with this order.

Free Ads Terms of Acceptance

  • Each free advert placed by a customer should be no more than 45 words in length including the contact telephone number and the area.
  • No messages will be accepted in any section of Ad Mag North East which contain full names of individuals, that are obscene, seen to be deemed derogatory, rude or malicious.
  • It is company policy not to accept real fur coats. Animal Rights Activists have targeted previous customers advertising these items.
  • Pit Bulls, American Pit Bulls and Japanese Tosa's are now banned in this country. It is illegal to buy, swap or sell these animals. None of these breeds will be accepted by Ad Mag North East.
  • Ad Mag North East will not accept any religious, political or racial adverts due to their contentious nature.
  • Due to their sensitive nature, no adult videos or magazines will be accepted by Ad Mag North East.
  • Ad Mag North East will not accept adverts for tortoises unless the advertiser is willing to disclose their licence number to the operator. Our operators must record the licence number.
  • Protected Species. Ad Mag North East will not accept any adverts for endangered species such as owls and eagles etc unless there is proof that the animal is close rung and has been bred in captivity. This must be stated in the advert.
  • Anyone selling or swapping a fruit machine needs to obtain a licence. The fact that a licence is held needs to be stated in the advert. The licences are easily obtained from the National Gaming Board.
  • If a customer has a holiday home for rent then it is company policy that this advert should be paid for. Single homes for sale are accepted as free ads.
  • Childminders offering their services constitute a business advert. Childminder wanted adverts are classed as free and are acceptable.
  • In the interests of babysitters and infants the company has decided not to accept adverts for babysitters.
  • Ad Mag North East will not accept any adverts for the sale of cigarettes or alcohol.
  • Situations Vacant adverts are classed as paid for adverts.
  • Multi Level Marketing Adverts are classed as business adverts.
  • Holiday caravans are classed as paid for advert.
  • Copied games for PlayStation consoles etc are not accepted by Ad Mag North East.
  • Ann Summers/ Tupperware whether advertising for staff or customers, party plan is considered to be business advertising and should be referred to sales.
  • Frog/ Toad Spawn - DEFRA has stated that it is illegal to disturb frog and toad spawn from its natural habitat and cannot therefore be advertised in the Ad Mag.
  • Knives, sheaths, daggers and knuckle-dusters are banned by Ad Mag North East.
  • Scanners and radar - scanners are only acceptable in Ad Mag if they are not stated as being "police scanners" as this is illegal. Radar detectors are also illegal and can not be accepted.
  • Ad Mag North East does not normally accept any 18 Cert videos as they could easily be sold to under 18s.
